Galveston beach clean up volunteer. The Cleanwaves Project is a Texas-based beach cleanup volunteer group working to save the ocean by removing harmful trash from our beaches. Since the program began more than 476000 volunteers have removed 9000 tons more than 17 million pounds of trash from the Texas coastline making it one of the most successful volunteer efforts in the nation. Our clean ups are designed for small groups and are located around Galveston Island Monday through Friday with some weekend availability hosted by a member of our Turtle Island Restoration Network Team. It is a small way to give back to the community that supports UTMB. Take a look at just some of our available volunteer opportunities.

Last year 1200 volunteers spread out over 32 miles of Galveston Beach and collected a total of 15000 lb of debris. Volunteers spent the morning picking up trash off of Galveston Beach with fellow SPE members. Volunteers can also get 10.

The Adopt-A-Beach program is an all-volunteer effort that began in 1986 in an effort to rid Texas beaches of litter. Each volunteer will be given data cards safety gloves pencils and trash bags. Call them to make a reservation.

Feel free to. Our Beach Adopters pledge to clean their section of beach at least three times a year for a renewable two-year term. The local program provides gloves trash bags pencils and data cards for the volunteers.

To join Turtle Island Restoration Network and Galveston Island Brewing for the Star Spangled Beach Cleanup please register online or check-in on the morning of the cleanup at the registration stations. Come out to Galveston and join the worlds largest volunteer effort to clean up our oceans and waterways by participating in the International Coastal Clean-Up a joint event of Texas Adopt-A-Beach and The Ocean Conservancy. On September 26th TAMU-SPE participated in the SPE Cares.

The volunteers log and tally each piece of trash they pick up. Last year more than 21 tons of trash was collected by the Clean Galveston Volunteers. The beach cleanup will run from 8-10am and Galveston Island Brewing will be open from 10-11am for beach clean up participants.

T-shirts will go to all preregistered paid entrants who have submitted a t-shirt size at registration. All volunteers are advised to dress comfortably wear closed-toe shoes and bring sunscreen hats bug repellant and plenty of drinking water. Debris source and type will be recorded and discarded appropriately. We sent 12 TAMU-SPE members down to Galveston to volunteer the greatest turnout of any SPE student chapter in attendance. The benefit is limited to the first 500 walkers to sign up.

By volunteering with the Galveston Bay Foundation you gain valuable field training and experience in environmental conservation and restoration earn volunteer credit satisfy employer volunteer opportunities and increase your knowledge of Galveston Bay. The donation is 5000 per walker and benefits Clean Galveston Inc dba Keep Galveston Beautiful a 501 c 3 organization.
